HEISE-MEYER ASSISTS WITH SOLAR POWER PLANT IN BUTLER, MO

HEISE-MEYER ASSISTS WITH SOLAR POWER PLANT IN BUTLER, MO

At its board meeting on June 9th, the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) gave approval for an agreement to purchase all of the power generated by a Butler, Missouri solar power plant developed by Solar Link US, Inc., a Lee’s Summit based solar energy company.  At Three Megawatts, constructed on 12 acres in the Butler Industrial Park, the solar plant will be the largest utility grade solar facility in the Midwest and is planned to come on line in 2012.

Power generated by the new facility will be fully consumed by customers in Butler.  This project will reduce the current cost of electric power for Butler citizens and help offset rate increases for the next 25 years.  This fifteen million dollar investment will add 25 construction jobs plus create new reasons for businesses to locate in Butler.  Solar Link, Heise-Meyer and the City of Butler have collaborated to create this innovative approach for reducing carbon emission, increasing employment, showing a commitment to green energy and containing energy costs.

“Solar Link is really pleased to be working with Butler and MPUA to bring utility grade solar power to this region.” says Corey McDonald president of Solar Link. Upon approval, John Grotzinger, MPUA COO commented that, “This project brings solar technology to the oldest, continuously operated, municipal utility in the United States.”

Heise-Meyer was retained by the City of Butler, Missouri to market their 60 acre industrial park and 20,000 square foot industrial building.  Dave Meyer and Shane Spencer of Heise-Meyer represented the City of Butler in this transaction.
